The Gender of Equidistance, some reflections on the scope of feminist legal analysis
At this event Liesbeth will lecture on the following topic:
"We all expect law to be impartial, balanced, and fair. Whether it is how the law treats individuals, or how it treats States. This need for fairness is at the heart of feminist lawyering, yet it is also at the heart of the rules in the law of the sea about the delimitation of maritime areas such as referring to ‘equidistance’ as a tool for the fair delimitation of maritime zones. The lecture will explore whether there is a gender bias in rules of international law that seek to provide objective norms for the organization of the international society (and do not deal with the position of individuals)."
After the lecture, participants are welcome to attend an informal reception at Fibigerstræde 4 (registration necessary).
