Global surrogacy in a changing world – Ethical, practical and legal developments in assisted reproduction and cross-border parenthood

8 and 9 June 2023 in Copenhagen

Main sponsor: Intersentia Publishing

It is with the greatest pleasure that we announce that the 2nd International Surrogacy Forum will take place on 8 and 9 June 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

After the success of the 1st International Surrogacy Forum, which took place on 27 and 28 June 2019 at the University of Cambridge, this forum will be hosted by Aalborg University and Nordic Centre for International and Comparative Family Law (NorFam). It is co-organised by NorFam with Cambridge Family Law (CFL), the International Academic of Family Lawyers (IAFL) and the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA).

The theme of the 2023 forum is ‘Global surrogacy in a changing world – Ethical, practical and legal developments in assisted reproduction and cross-border parenthood’. On 8 June the Anne-Marie Hutchinson Memorial Lecture will be held to honour Anne-Marie’s outstanding contributions to the law and practice in the field of family law generally and surrogacy in particular.

There will be sessions reporting on Developments in Surrogacy Around the Globe (Europe, Latin America, Africa, North America, Asia, European Union and The Hague Conference) as well as sessions on Children’s Voices and Children’s Rights, Views of Surrogates and The Role of Agencies.

The conference will be held in Tivoli in the Centre of Copenhagen, one of Copenhagen’s main attractions. The conference venue is the incredible Axelborg Hall. The conference gala dinner will be held in Restaurant Paafuglen, also located in Tivoli. Participants will have access to the delightful Tivoli Gardens.

At the conference, the book ‘Surrogacy in Latin America’, edited by Nicolás Espejo-Yaksic, Claire Fenton Glynn and Jens M. Scherpe will be launched. Copies are available at a discounted price and can be reserved on the conference booking page for pick-up at the conference. The book ‘Eastern and Western Perspectives on Surrogacy’, edited by Jens M. Scherpe, Claire Fenton-Glynn and Terry Kaan in 2019, will similarly be available for reservation and pick-up at the conference.

The online resources from the 1st International Surrogacy Forum in Cambridge can be found here.

We look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen in June 2023!
