After the success of the 1st International Surrogacy Forum, which took place on 27 and 28 June 2019 at the University of Cambridge, this forum was hosted by Aalborg University and Nordic Centre for International and Comparative Family Law (NorFam). It was co-organised by NorFam with Cambridge Family Law (CFL), the International Academic of Family Lawyers (IAFL) and the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA).

The theme of the 2023 forum was ‘Global surrogacy in a changing world – Ethical, practical and legal developments in assisted reproduction and cross-border parenthood’. On 8 June the Anne-Marie Hutchinson Memorial Lecture was held to honour Anne-Marie’s outstanding contributions to the law and practice in the field of family law generally and surrogacy in particular.

There were sessions reporting on Developments in Surrogacy Around the Globe (Europe, Latin America, Africa, North America, Asia, European Union and The Hague Conference) as well as sessions on Children’s Voices and Children’s Rights, Views of Surrogates and The Role of Agencies.

The conference was held in Tivoli in the Centre of Copenhagen, one of Copenhagen’s main attractions. The conference venue was the incredible Axelborg Hall. The conference gala dinner was held in Restaurant Paafuglen, also located in Tivoli. Participants had access to the delightful Tivoli Gardens.

At the conference, the book ‘Surrogacy in Latin America’, edited by Nicolás Espejo-Yaksic, Claire Fenton Glynn and Jens M. Scherpe was launched.
